Ingredients
- Pasta - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh basil leaves - for garnish
- Parmesan cheese - for serving (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
- Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir to combine and let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/4 cup of the pasta cooking water and drain the rest. Add the drained pasta to the sauce and toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve desired sauce consistency.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
