Ingredients

  • Pasta (penne or fusilli) - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Heavy cream - 100 milliliters
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese (grated, optional) - 30 grams
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish) - a handful

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and stir well. Add salt, black pepper, and dried basil. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Lower the heat and add the heavy cream to the tomato mixture, stirring until well combined. Allow it to simmer for an additional 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat it well with the sauce. Cook for another 2 minutes to heat through.
  6. Serve the pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves for garnish.
