Ingredients
- Pasta (penne or fusilli) - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
- Heavy cream - 100 ml
- Parmesan cheese - 50 grams, grated
- Fresh basil - a handful, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving a little pasta water.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
- Add the canned crushed tomatoes to the skillet, stir well, and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
- Lower the heat, then stir in the heavy cream and mix until fully incorporated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce, tossing to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with extra basil and Parmesan if desired.
