- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Parmesan cheese (grated, optional) - 50 grams
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften and release their juices.
- Season the tomato mixture with salt and black pepper, then add the fresh basil leaves, stirring to combine.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the tomato basil mixture, tossing to combine. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water to achieve desired consistency.
- Serve the pasta warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
