Ingredients
- Spaghetti - 200 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cherry tomatoes - 300 grams, halved
- Fresh basil - 1/2 cup, chopped
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened and start to release their juices.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it directly to the skillet with the tomatoes.
- Toss the pasta in the skillet, adding the reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Stir in the chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
