Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cherry tomatoes - 300 grams, halved
  • Fresh basil - 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated (optional)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened and start to release their juices.
  4. Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it directly to the skillet with the tomatoes.
  5. Toss the pasta in the skillet, adding the reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Stir in the chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
