Ingredients

  • Pasta (e.g., fettuccine) - 200 grams
  • Fresh or frozen peas - 150 grams
  • Prosciutto - 100 grams, thinly sliced
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Fresh basil - a handful, torn (optional)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the peas to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender. If using frozen peas, they will cook faster.
  4. Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the peas.
  5. Add the sliced prosciutto and toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce.
  6. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
