Ingredients
- Pasta (e.g., fettuccine) - 200 grams
- Fresh or frozen peas - 150 grams
- Prosciutto - 100 grams, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Fresh basil - a handful, torn (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the peas to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until tender. If using frozen peas, they will cook faster.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta and add it to the skillet with the peas.
- Add the sliced prosciutto and toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
