Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Ground beef (kosher) - 250 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 small
  • Parsley (fresh, chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Canned crushed tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional) - for serving

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, half of the minced garlic, half of the chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the remaining minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add the canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, and sugar to the skillet. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
  8. Once the meatballs are cooked, add them to the marinara sauce and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Serve the spaghetti topped with the marinara sauce and meatballs, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese and remaining parsley if desired.
