Ingredients
- Pasta (spaghetti or fettuccine) - 150 grams
- Pure maple syrup - 4 tablespoons (60 ml)
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Black pepper (freshly ground) - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Fresh parsley (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Parmesan cheese (optional, for garnish) - 2 tablespoons
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, but not browned.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with garlic, then pour in the maple syrup and toss to combine. If the mixture seems dry, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Season with black pepper and salt to taste. Toss in the chopped parsley and mix well.
- Serve immediately, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
