Ingredients
- Spaghetti - 160 grams
- Garlic - 6 cloves, thinly sliced
- Extra virgin olive oil - 60 ml
- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and cook gently until it turns golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
- Add the red pepper flakes to the skillet and stir, cooking for an additional 30 seconds to release their flavor.
- Once the pasta is done, reserve about 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic oil. Toss to coat, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to help create a light sauce.
- Stir in the chopped parsley and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
