- Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese - 30 grams (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
- Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- Once the pasta is done, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic oil, tossing to coat the spaghetti evenly.
- If the pasta seems dry, add some reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
