Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese - 30 grams (optional)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
  3. While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  5. Stir in the red pepper flakes and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  6. Once the pasta is done, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water and then drain the pasta.
  7. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the garlic oil, tossing to coat the spaghetti evenly.
  8. If the pasta seems dry, add some reserved pasta water, a little at a time, until the desired consistency is reached.
  9. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, and stir in the chopped parsley.
  10. Serve hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
