Ingredients
- Spaghetti - 200 grams
- Canned clams (in juice) - 400 grams
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 3 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)
Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the canned clams (with their juice) to the skillet and stir well. Allow to simmer for about 3-5 minutes to heat through.
- Once the spaghetti is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the clam sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
- Stir in the chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional parsley if desired.
