Ingredients

  • all-purpose flour - 125 grams
  • baking powder - 10 grams
  • granulated sugar - 25 grams
  • salt - 2 grams
  • milk - 150 ml
  • large egg - 1
  • unsalted butter - 30 grams, melted
  • maple syrup - to taste
  • powdered sugar - for dusting (optional)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease it with butter or oil.
  5. Pour about 60 ml (1/4 cup) of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
  6. Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Flip the pancakes and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the skillet and keep warm while you repeat with the remaining batter.
  9. Serve warm with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
