- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Lemon wedges - 2, for serving
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes to create a marinade. Add the tofu slices to the marinade and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- While the tofu is marinating, prepare the nori sheets by cutting them into halves.
- After marinating, take each tofu slice and coat it lightly with cornstarch on all sides.
- Place a marinated tofu slice on a nori sheet, roll it tightly, and seal the edge with a little water. Repeat with the remaining slices.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the nori-wrapped tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the pan and let them drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions and lemon wedges on the side.
