Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Nori sheets - 4 sheets
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Lemon wedges - 2, for serving

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into 1 cm thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes to create a marinade. Add the tofu slices to the marinade and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  3. While the tofu is marinating, prepare the nori sheets by cutting them into halves.
  4. After marinating, take each tofu slice and coat it lightly with cornstarch on all sides.
  5. Place a marinated tofu slice on a nori sheet, roll it tightly, and seal the edge with a little water. Repeat with the remaining slices.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the nori-wrapped tofu for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  7. Remove from the pan and let them drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions and lemon wedges on the side.
