Ingredients
- Fresh mussels - 500 grams
- Dry white wine - 150 ml
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the mussels under cold water, scrubbing the shells to remove any sand or debris. Discard any mussels that are open and do not close when tapped.
- In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped shallots and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until translucent.
- Add the minced garlic to the pot and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
- Pour in the white wine and bring to a gentle simmer. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Add the cleaned mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened up. Discard any mussels that remain closed.
- Stir in the fresh parsley and lemon juice just before serving, mixing well to combine.
- Serve the mussels in bowls with the broth and garnish with additional parsley if desired.
