Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Water - 1/4 cup
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Potatoes - 200 grams, boiled and mashed
- Green peas - 50 grams, cooked
- Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1/2 tsp, grated
- Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp (adjust to taste)
- Oil - 1 tbsp (for filling) + oil for frying
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tbsp, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tsp
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
- Add grated ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
- Incorporate the mashed potatoes, cooked peas, chopped cilantro, and lemon juice into the pan. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Divide the dough into small balls (about 4-5) and roll each ball into a thin circle. Cut each circle in half to form two semi-circles.
- Take one semi-circle, apply a little water along the straight edge, and fold it into a cone shape. Seal the edge tightly.
- Fill the cone with the potato-pea mixture and seal the top edges by applying water and pressing them together.
- Repeat the process for the remaining dough and filling.
- In a deep pan, heat oil for frying. Once hot, fry the mini samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- Remove the samosas with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite chutney.
