Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 1 cup
  • Water - 1/4 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Potatoes - 200 grams, boiled and mashed
  • Green peas - 50 grams, cooked
  • Onion - 1 small, finely chopped
  • Ginger - 1/2 tsp, grated
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 tsp (adjust to taste)
  • Oil - 1 tbsp (for filling) + oil for frying
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tbsp, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tsp

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
  3. Add grated ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Incorporate the mashed potatoes, cooked peas, chopped cilantro, and lemon juice into the pan. Mix well and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  5. Divide the dough into small balls (about 4-5) and roll each ball into a thin circle. Cut each circle in half to form two semi-circles.
  6. Take one semi-circle, apply a little water along the straight edge, and fold it into a cone shape. Seal the edge tightly.
  7. Fill the cone with the potato-pea mixture and seal the top edges by applying water and pressing them together.
  8. Repeat the process for the remaining dough and filling.
  9. In a deep pan, heat oil for frying. Once hot, fry the mini samosas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
  10. Remove the samosas with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite chutney.
