Ingredients

  • Shrimp - 250 grams, peeled and deveined
  • Corn grits - 100 grams
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Butter - 30 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Cajun seasoning - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Cheddar cheese - 50 grams, shredded
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a saucepan, bring 500 ml of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt and gradually whisk in the corn grits. Reduce heat to low and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  2. While the grits are cooking, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 30 grams of butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the shrimp to the skillet, sprinkle with Cajun seasoning, and cook for about 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  5. Once the grits are cooked, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
