Ingredients

  • Ground beef - 200 grams
  • Gluten-free breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Marinara sauce - 200 ml
  • Gluten-free hoagie rolls - 2
  • Mozzarella cheese - 50 grams, shredded
  • Fresh basil - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, gluten-free breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned on all sides.
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs in the skillet and let it simmer for another 10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
  6. While the meatballs are simmering, place the gluten-free hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes.
  7. Once toasted, remove the rolls from the oven and fill each with the meatballs and marinara sauce.
  8. Top each sub with shredded mozzarella cheese and return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
