Ingredients
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Gluten-free breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
- Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Marinara sauce - 200 ml
- Gluten-free hoagie rolls - 2
- Mozzarella cheese - 50 grams, shredded
- Fresh basil - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, gluten-free breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 2.5 cm in diameter.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned on all sides.
- Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs in the skillet and let it simmer for another 10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
- While the meatballs are simmering, place the gluten-free hoagie rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes.
- Once toasted, remove the rolls from the oven and fill each with the meatballs and marinara sauce.
- Top each sub with shredded mozzarella cheese and return them to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
