- Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
- Egg - 1 large
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried thyme - 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk - 60 ml
- Beef broth - 200 ml
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- All-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, black pepper, thyme, and milk. Mix well until fully combined.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the gravy. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the beef broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer until it thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with the gravy drizzled on top.
