Ingredients

  • Ground beef (85% lean) - 300 grams
  • Breadcrumbs - 50 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried thyme - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Milk - 60 ml
  • Beef broth - 200 ml
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon
  • All-purpose flour - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, black pepper, thyme, and milk. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  4. While the meatloaf is baking, prepare the gravy. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to create a roux.
  5. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, bringing the mixture to a simmer until it thickens, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Once the meatloaf is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with the gravy drizzled on top.
