Ingredients

  • Matzo - 4 sheets

  • Black pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • Butter - 30 g
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp (optional, for sweet version)
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 tsp (optional, for sweet version)

Steps

  1. Break the matzo sheets into small pieces and place them in a bowl.
  2. Pour hot water over the matzo pieces and let them soak for about 3 minutes, then drain excess water.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper (and sugar and cinnamon if making the sweet version).
  4. Add the soaked matzo to the egg mixture and stir until well combined.
  5. Heat the butter in a non-stick skillet over medium heat until melted.
  6. Pour the matzo mixture into the skillet, spreading it evenly.
  7. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until set and golden.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with additional toppings like applesauce, maple syrup, or sautéed vegetables.
