Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 5 grams
  • Salt - 5 grams
  • Olive oil - 15 ml
  • Tomato sauce - 100 grams
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese - 150 grams
  • Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams
  • Salt and pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 250°C (482°F) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 25 cm (10-inch) round on a floured surface.
  7. Transfer the rolled dough to a piece of parchment paper. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
  8. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly on top of the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  9. Carefully transfer the pizza (with the parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  10. Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, and drizzle with a little olive oil before slicing and serving.
