Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 5 grams
- Olive oil - 15 ml
- Tomato sauce - 100 grams
- Fresh mozzarella cheese - 150 grams
- Fresh basil leaves - 10 grams
- Salt and pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 250°C (482°F) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a 25 cm (10-inch) round on a floured surface.
- Transfer the rolled dough to a piece of parchment paper. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and distribute them evenly on top of the sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Carefully transfer the pizza (with the parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven, top with fresh basil leaves, and drizzle with a little olive oil before slicing and serving.
