- Pure maple syrup - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
- Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable broth - 250 milliliters
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a small bowl, mix together the Dijon mustard, maple syrup, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to create the glaze.
- Heat the olive oil in a large, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the brisket in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
- Remove the brisket from the skillet and set aside.
- Pour the vegetable broth into the skillet, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
- Return the brisket to the skillet and brush half of the glaze over the top.
- Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven.
- Cook for 2 hours, basting with the remaining glaze halfway through cooking.
- Remove from the oven and let the brisket rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
