- Maple syrup - 60 ml
- Soy sauce (Halal) - 30 ml
- Apple cider vinegar - 15 ml
- Garlic cloves, minced - 2
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Ground ginger - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon
- Green onions, sliced - 2 for garnish
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
- In a bowl, mix together the maple syrup, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, salt, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes to create the glaze.
- Score the skin of the pork belly in a diamond pattern, being careful not to cut too deep into the meat.
- Place the pork belly in a roasting pan and pour half of the glaze over it, ensuring it is evenly coated.
- Cover the pan with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Roast for 2 hours.
- After 2 hours, remove the foil and brush the pork belly with the remaining glaze. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and roast for an additional 30 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and caramelized.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced pork belly garnished with sliced green onions.
