Ingredients
- glutinous rice - 100 grams
- coconut milk - 100 ml
- honey - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- mango - 1 medium, ripe
- sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer for about 20 minutes, or until the grains are translucent and sticky.
- While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, honey, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until the honey is dissolved and the mixture is warm, but do not boil.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about half of the coconut milk mixture over the rice. Stir well to combine and let the rice absorb the flavors for about 10 minutes.
- Peel and slice the ripe mango into thin strips.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds on top for added crunch.
