Ingredients

  • Lamb shoulder - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Greek yogurt - 100 grams
  • Cucumber - 1 small, grated
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Romaine lettuce - 1 cup, shredded

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper. Add the lamb shoulder, coat well, and marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. While the lamb is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a separate bowl. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the lamb from the marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side until cooked to your desired doneness.
  4. Once cooked, let the lamb rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
  5. Warm the pita bread in the grill pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  6. Assemble the platter by placing the sliced lamb on the pita, topped with diced tomato, sliced red onion, and shredded romaine lettuce.
  7. Drizzle the tzatziki sauce generously over the top and serve immediately.
