Ingredients

  • Italian sausage - 250 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow onion - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the Italian sausage to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the sliced red and green bell peppers, and onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they begin to soften.
  4. Add the minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the skillet. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked sausage to the skillet and stir to combine with the vegetables. Cook for another 5 minutes until everything is heated through.
  6. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
