Ingredients

  • Pork chops - 2 (200g each)
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
  • Apples (preferably Granny Smith) - 1 medium, sliced
  • Unsweetened apple cider - 120ml
  • Butter - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Season the pork chops with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 145°F / 63°C).
  4. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside, keeping warm.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced apples and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Pour in the unsweetened apple cider and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze.
  7. Add the butter to the skillet and stir until melted, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
  8. Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning the apple mixture over them, and cook for an additional minute to heat through.
  9. Serve the pork chops garnished with fresh parsley and the apple mixture on top.
