Ingredients
- Pork chops - 2 (200g each)
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Dried thyme - 1 teaspoon
- Apples (preferably Granny Smith) - 1 medium, sliced
- Unsweetened apple cider - 120ml
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh parsley - for garnish
Steps
- Season the pork chops with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried thyme on both sides.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and heat until shimmering.
- Add the pork chops to the skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 145°F / 63°C).
- Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside, keeping warm.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced apples and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
- Pour in the unsweetened apple cider and bring to a simmer, scraping the bottom of the skillet to deglaze.
- Add the butter to the skillet and stir until melted, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return the pork chops to the skillet, spooning the apple mixture over them, and cook for an additional minute to heat through.
- Serve the pork chops garnished with fresh parsley and the apple mixture on top.
