Ingredients

  • Bison ground meat - 500 grams
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cheddar cheese - 50 grams, shredded
  • Romaine lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Avocado - 1 medium, sliced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, sliced
  • Dijon mustard - 2 teaspoons

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the bison ground meat, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into patties about 2.5 cm thick.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the bison patties to the skillet.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, top each patty with shredded cheddar cheese and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  6. Remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes.
  7. To assemble, place a bison patty on a romaine lettuce leaf, top with avocado slices, tomato slices, and a drizzle of Dijon mustard. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy!
