Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 1 kg
  • Brown sugar - 50 g
  • Paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 60 ml
  • Ketchup - 120 ml
  • Worcestershire sauce - 30 ml
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 30 g

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper to create a dry rub.
  3. Apply the dry rub generously to both sides of the pork ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Let them rest for 30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  4. Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover the ribs tightly with another piece of foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours until tender.
  5. While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce by combining apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and honey in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until well combined and let simmer for about 15 minutes.
  6. After 2.5 to 3 hours, remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top foil. Brush the ribs generously with the barbecue sauce.
  7. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (425°F) and return the ribs to the oven, uncovered. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, basting with more sauce halfway through until the ribs are caramelized.
  8. Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
