Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 1 kg
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Smoked paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • Ketchup - 1 cup
  • Molasses - 2 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce (gluten-free) - 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard - 1 tablespoon
  • Liquid smoke - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and brown sugar to create a dry rub.
  3. Pat the pork ribs dry with paper towels and apply the dry rub evenly over both sides of the ribs.
  4. Wrap the ribs in aluminum foil and place them on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 hours.
  5. While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce by combining ketchup, molasses, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and liquid smoke in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. After 2.5 hours, remove the ribs from the oven and carefully unwrap the foil.
  8. Preheat a grill or broiler to medium-high heat.
  9. Brush the barbecue sauce generously over the ribs and place them on the grill or under the broiler for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the sauce is caramelized.
  10. Remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving with extra barbecue sauce.
