Ingredients

  • Chicken thighs - 4 pieces (about 500g)
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons (30g)
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons (45ml)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon (15ml)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional, for garnish)

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the glaze.
  2. Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the glaze over the chicken, ensuring they are well coated. Seal or cover and marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator for more flavor).
  3. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  4. Heat olive oil in an oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the chicken from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and sear the thighs for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. Pour the reserved marinade over the seared chicken thighs and transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 75°C (165°F).
  7. Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
