Ingredients

  • large eggs - 4
  • water - enough to cover eggs in pot
  • salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • black pepper - to taste
  • paprika - for garnish (optional)

Steps

  1. Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with water, ensuring the water is at least 2.5 cm above the eggs.
  2. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the water to help with peeling.
  3. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Once boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid and remove it from heat. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 9-12 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness.
  5. After the time is up, carefully drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool for about 5 minutes.
  6. Once cooled, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface and peel them under running water for easier removal of the shells.
  7. Slice the eggs in half or enjoy them whole, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
