Ingredients
- large eggs - 4
- water - enough to cover eggs in pot
- salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- black pepper - to taste
- paprika - for garnish (optional)
Steps
- Place the eggs in a single layer in a saucepan and cover them with water, ensuring the water is at least 2.5 cm above the eggs.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to the water to help with peeling.
- Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Once boiling, cover the saucepan with a lid and remove it from heat. Let the eggs sit in the hot water for 9-12 minutes, depending on your preferred level of doneness.
- After the time is up, carefully drain the hot water and transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water to cool for about 5 minutes.
- Once cooled, gently tap the eggs on a hard surface and peel them under running water for easier removal of the shells.
- Slice the eggs in half or enjoy them whole, seasoning with salt, black pepper, and a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
