Ingredients
- Beef chuck roast - 500 grams
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Smoked paprika - 1 tablespoon
- Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- BBQ sauce (halal) - 100 ml
- Water - 250 ml
- Buns (halal) - 2
Steps
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Rub the beef chuck roast with smoked paprika, ground cumin, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Add the roast to the pot and brown it on all sides, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Pour in the water and cover the pot. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 2 hours, or until the meat is tender and easily shredded.
- Remove the roast from the pot and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded meat to the pot and mix in the BBQ sauce. Let it simmer for an additional 20-30 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Serve the pulled beef on soft buns, topped with your favorite slaw if desired.
