Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles - 4 sheets
  • Ground halal beef - 250 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion, chopped - 1 small
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Tomato sauce - 200 grams
  • Ricotta cheese - 100 grams
  • Mozzarella cheese, shredded - 100 grams
  • Parmesan cheese, grated - 30 grams
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Dried basil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley, chopped - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles in boiling salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  4. Add the ground halal beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, chopped parsley, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.
  7. In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of the beef sauce on the bottom. Place 2 sheets of lasagna noodles on top.
  8. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a layer of beef sauce and a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese.
  9. Repeat the layers with 2 more sheets of noodles, the remaining ricotta mixture, beef sauce, and top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Let the lasagna rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
