Ingredients

  • Spaghetti - 200 grams
  • Unsalted butter - 50 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Parmesan cheese - 30 grams, grated
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Salt - to taste
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Crushed red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
  4. Once the pasta is cooked, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the spaghetti.
  5. Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic butter, and toss to combine.
  6. If the pasta seems dry, add a little reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
  7. Stir in the chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  8. If desired, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes for a bit of heat. Toss everything together until well combined.
  9. Serve immediately, garnished with extra parsley and Parmesan if desired.
