Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 250 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Corn tortillas - 4 small
  • Cabbage (shredded) - 1 cup
  • Cherry tomatoes (halved) - 1/2 cup
  • Avocado (sliced) - 1 small
  • Cilantro (chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sour cream or yogurt - 2 tablespoons
  • Hot sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add the fish fillets to the marinade and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. While the fish is marinating, prepare the toppings by mixing the shredded cabbage, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced avocado, and chopped cilantro in a bowl.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the marinated fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and flaky.
  5. Remove the fish from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before flaking it into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Warm the corn tortillas in the same skillet for about 30 seconds on each side until soft.
  7. Assemble the tacos by placing some flaked fish on each tortilla, topping with the cabbage mixture, and adding a dollop of sour cream or yogurt along with hot sauce if desired.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy your Halal Fish Tacos!
