Ingredients

  • Halal chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Mirin - 30 ml
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons (30 grams)
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon (15 ml)
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Cooked rice - 300 grams

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, mirin, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the teriyaki marinade.
  2. Cut the Halal chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add it to the marinade. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated chicken and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Pour in the remaining marinade and bring it to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in sesame oil and half of the chopped green onions, mixing well.
  6. Serve the chicken over cooked rice, garnished with the remaining green onions and sesame seeds.
