  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Paprika - 1 tablespoon
  • Cayenne pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Apple cider vinegar - 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce (halal) - 2 tablespoons
  • Ketchup - 4 tablespoons
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a large oven-safe pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and diced onion, sautéing until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Mix in the brown sugar, paprika, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt, stirring until well combined.
  4. Add the beef short ribs to the pot, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, and water, then pour this mixture over the short ribs in the pot.
  6. Cover the pot with a lid and transfer it to the preheated oven. Cook for 2.5 to 3 hours, or until the ribs are fork-tender.
  7. Once cooked, remove the pot from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before serving.
