Ingredients

  • Halal ground beef - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Onion - 1 medium, diced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Green bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Red bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Canned diced tomatoes - 400 grams
  • Canned kidney beans - 240 grams, drained and rinsed
  • Chili powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 250 milliliters
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until it becomes translucent.
  2. Add the minced garlic, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper to the pot, cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes until the peppers soften.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the halal ground beef to the pot. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper, mixing well to coat the beef and vegetables evenly.
  5. Pour in the canned diced tomatoes with their juices and the drained kidney beans, mixing everything together.
  6. Add the water to the pot and bring the chili to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer uncovered for about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.
