- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Paprika - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken broth - 2 cups
- Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Lemon - 1, wedges for serving
Steps
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
- In a medium pot, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic to the pot and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.
- Add the ground halal beef to the pot, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cumin, paprika, turmeric, salt, and black pepper, mixing well to combine with the beef.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pot, stirring to coat the rice with the spices and beef mixture.
