Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 500 grams (or beef ribs, as per halal requirements)

  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Onion powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 2 tablespoons
  • Apple cider vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Ketchup - 4 tablespoons
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon (ensure halal version)
  • Mustard - 1 teaspoon
  • Water - 1/2 cup

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the ribs, ensuring an even coat.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together honey, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and water to create the BBQ sauce.
  5. Place the ribs in a baking dish and brush half of the BBQ sauce over them.
  6. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 hours.
  7. Remove the foil, brush the remaining BBQ sauce over the ribs, and increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F).
  8. Bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the ribs are caramelized and slightly crispy on the edges.
  9. Remove from the oven, let rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve.
