- Butter - 2 tablespoons (30 g)

Steps
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil and add 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
- Gradually whisk in the grits, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan. Cook the grits for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
- Once the grits are cooked, remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of butter and 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
