Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Yogurt - 100 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ground cumin - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground coriander - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1 small, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/2, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the yogurt, minced garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the fridge for more flavor).
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated chicken onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes beforehand).
  5. Grill the chicken skewers for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  6. While the chicken is grilling, prepare the salad by combining diced cucumber, tomato, red onion, and parsley in a bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes.
  8. Serve the grilled chicken in pita bread with the fresh salad on the side, and drizzle with extra yogurt if desired.
