Ingredients

  • sourdough bread - 4 slices
  • sharp cheddar cheese - 100 grams, grated
  • mozzarella cheese - 100 grams, grated
  • unsalted butter - 50 grams, softened
  • garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • fresh basil - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • salt - to taste
  • black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the grated sharp cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, adding garlic powder, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  3. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, in a preheated skillet over medium heat.
  4. Evenly distribute the cheese mixture on top of the bread in the skillet.
  5. Cover with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  6. Cook for about 3-4 minutes or until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the other side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  8. Remove from the skillet, let cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve warm.
