Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Wooden skewers - 4
  • Cucumber - 100 grams, grated
  • Greek yogurt - 150 grams
  • Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Salt (for tzatziki) - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Cut the chicken breast into 2.5 cm cubes and place them in a bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Pour the marinade over the chicken cubes and stir to coat evenly. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.
  4. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the tzatziki sauce by combining grated cucumber, Greek yogurt, fresh dill, and salt in a bowl. Mix well and refrigerate until ready to serve.
  5. Preheat the grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Thread the marinated chicken onto the wooden skewers, about 4-5 pieces per skewer.
  7. Grill the skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
  8. Serve the chicken souvlaki hot with the tzatziki sauce on the side.
