Ingredients

  • Chicken breast - 300 grams
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Dried oregano - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat pita bread - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1/2 medium, diced
  • Tomato - 1 medium, diced
  • Red onion - 1/4 medium, thinly sliced
  • Feta cheese - 50 grams, crumbled
  • Tzatziki sauce - 100 grams

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix the olive oil, lemon juice, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Cut the chicken breast into strips and add it to the marinade, ensuring it is well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. While the chicken is marinating, prepare the vegetables by dicing the cucumber and tomato, and thinly slicing the red onion.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the marinated chicken strips. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink inside.
  5. Warm the pita bread in a toaster or on a skillet for about 1-2 minutes.
  6. To assemble, place the cooked chicken strips inside the warm pita bread, and top with diced cucumber, tomato, red onion, crumbled feta cheese, and a generous spoonful of tzatziki sauce.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your Greek Chicken Pita!
