- Carp fillet - 200 grams
- Pike fillet - 100 grams
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Egg - 1 large
- Matzo meal - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 teaspoon
- Carrot - 1 medium, sliced
- Fish stock or water - 500 milliliters
- Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the carp and pike fillets. Process until finely ground.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground fish, chopped onion, egg, matzo meal, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the fish mixture into oval patties, about 5 cm long.
- In a large pot, bring the fish stock or water to a gentle simmer. Add the sliced carrot and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
- Carefully add the fish patties to the pot. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove the patties and carrots from the pot and let them cool. Serve chilled or at room temperature, garnished with fresh dill and a squeeze of lemon juice.
