  • Carp fillet - 200 grams
  • Pike fillet - 100 grams
  • Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Egg - 1 large
  • Matzo meal - 3 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Sugar - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Carrot - 1 medium, sliced
  • Fish stock or water - 500 milliliters
  • Fresh dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the carp and pike fillets. Process until finely ground.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground fish, chopped onion, egg, matzo meal, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the fish mixture into oval patties, about 5 cm long.
  4. In a large pot, bring the fish stock or water to a gentle simmer. Add the sliced carrot and let it cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Carefully add the fish patties to the pot. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes until cooked through.
  6. Remove the patties and carrots from the pot and let them cool. Serve chilled or at room temperature, garnished with fresh dill and a squeeze of lemon juice.
