  • Garlic cloves - 4, smashed
  • Fresh dill - 4 sprigs
  • Black peppercorns - 1 teaspoon (5g)
  • Red pepper flakes - 1/2 teaspoon (2g) (optional)

Steps

  1. Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and cut them into spears or slices, depending on your preference.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine water, white vinegar, and kosher salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring until the salt has completely dissolved.
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the brine cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. In a clean glass jar, layer the cucumber pieces, smashed garlic cloves, fresh dill sprigs, black peppercorns, and red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Pour the cooled brine over the cucumbers in the jar, ensuring they are fully submerged. If necessary, add more water to cover the cucumbers completely.
