Ingredients

  • Long-grain rice - 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Unsalted butter - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Fresh parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.
  4. While the rice is cooking, melt the butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and pour the garlic butter mixture over it. Add the chopped parsley, remaining salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  6. Serve warm as a delicious side dish or main course.
