- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Buttermilk - 1/2 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cayenne pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps
- Wash the okra thoroughly and trim the ends. Cut the okra into 1/2-inch slices.
- In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper to make the batter.
- Dip the sliced okra into buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the cornmeal mixture until well coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
- Carefully add the coated okra to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the okra for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried okra and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot as a side dish.
