  • Egg - 1 large
  • Milk - 60 ml
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Olive oil - for frying
  • Lemon wedges - for serving
  • Fresh parsley - for garnish

Steps

  1. Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined.
  4. Dip each calamari ring into the egg mixture, then coat it thoroughly with the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  5. In a deep skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
  6. Fry the coated calamari rings in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  7. Once cooked, transfer the fried calamari to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.
